Abbeville District (S.C.) account book, 1804-1806.

Account book recording sales during the early 19th century at an unidentified general store located in Abbeville District, S.C. Goods purchased include whiskey, brandy, and other varieties of alcohol, dry goods, casks, tobacco, and other items; several transactions document the exchange of cotton, including the account of William Clarkson (p. 108). Typescript list (page 45) identifies names of all individuals named in this volume; family names included Gentry, Henderson, Allen, Connor, Hearst, etc. (compiled by Harry Legare Watson of Greenwood, S.C.) This general store was in operation shortly after creation of Abbeville District in 1800 from the old Ninety Six District.
